De-Stressing Method | Gazing at Soy Candles
Out of ways to destress & relax?

Here are a few reasons why many find it hard to destress & relax these days. With the travelling restriction & mundane social life, we've missed the beauty of socializing, feeling cooped up & suffocated.
Why destressing & relaxing is something you're unable to do? Because you start spiraling in thoughts. You think you're focusing but often you're focusing on the wrong things or thoughts. Your mind & body are not aligned, leaving you feeling anxious & stressed occasionally. You're not ALONE, we know many who are facing this and it's not the end of the world.
You may find yourself browsing through catalogues or food during work hours because retail therapy relaxes you. However, by doing this you are ultimately just distracting yourself from your problems or work temporarily.
After exploring different ways to destress - shopping therapy, cooking, reading, meditating & working out, we found one ideal way to solve this.
"It is scientifically proven that scented candles can soothe us, it plays an essential role in creating a comfortable & relaxed space for your physiological needs - mood, stress, career capacity & overall mental health" - Chryssa Chalkia, an accredited clinical integrative psychotherapist and cognitive behavioral therapist
Anxiety is triggered by memories, environment/surroundings, events & people. The aim is to find support to soothe your triggers. Scented candles have been used since hundred of years for meditation practices. There are many forms of meditation but we are going to highlight the an experience that worked for us!
FOCUSED MEDITATION
Focused meditation involves concentration using any of the five senses. We will focus on sight (staring at the candle flame ) & smell/breathing ( breathing in scents you enjoy, it doesn't need to be a relaxing or calming scent, choose what works best for you) . Using a scented candle as an external influence to help focus your attention.

It may sound easy, but it can be challenging for beginners to hold their focus for the first time. Start short - for 2 minutes & then try again for 3 minutes.
If your mind does wander, it’s important not to force yourself, but walk away and then come back to the practice and refocus.
As the name Focused Meditation suggests, this practice is ideal for anyone who requires additional focus in their life.
By being focused in your daily life, you'll be able to overcome your stress, triggers & identify focal points of your stressors. When your mind is able to focus, you'll develop self-awareness and recognize thoughts that are self-defeating or harmful.
It is tough to focus in life when you are constantly hounded by worries & anxiety.
Try this method out & discover the benefits.
